Homemade Smash Burger

Ingredients
- 600g ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- Lettuce, tomato and onion slices
- Pickles
- Ketchup, mustard or burger sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
How to make it
- Divide the beef into 4 portions and shape loosely into balls without overworking
- Heat a skillet or griddle until very hot and add a little oil
- Press each ball flat with a spatula to form a thin smash patty
- Season with salt and pepper and sear for 2 minutes until a crust forms
- Flip, add cheese and cook another 1-2 minutes
- Toast the buns lightly
- Build the burger with sauce, lettuce, tomato, patty, pickles and onion
